Hoopla Junk

Hoopla Junk has always been more than a business—it began as a spark in Colleen Jensen’s eye. Back in the early 2000s in Stillwater, Minnesota, Colleen turned a spare room into her personal art haven and began handcrafting jewelry. One experiment led to another, and before long her creative passions expanded into vintage décor, furniture refurbishing, and all the quirky retro treasures now synonymous with the Hoopla Junk name.

After relocating from Minnesota to Missouri in 2015, Colleen decided it was finally time to bring her dream to life. In 2016, the first official Hoopla Junk storefront opened in downtown Washington, Missouri. The space—once a humble tool shop—was lovingly transformed into a colorful, eclectic retail haven. Although the shop closed in 2017 when the Jensen family returned to Minnesota, the spirit of Hoopla Junk was far from finished.

Back in Minnesota, the Jensen's settled into an old farmhouse in Welch. On the property stood a weathered barn from the late 1800s—dusty, charming, and full of possibility. In 2020, renovations began. After months of hard work (and more than a few splinters), the barn was reborn as the seasonal barn-sale destination that Hoopla Junk fans have come to adore.

In March of 2025, Colleen and Steve took their next big step, leasing a sweet historic storefront in downtown Red Wing. After refinishing floors, staging the space, and sprinkling in plenty of Hoopla magic, the second Hoopla Junk retail location officially opened its doors in July 2025—and the rest, as they say, is history still in the making.
